I'm trying to make some decisions about my patio and yard that do not involve money (or at least not much money anyway). I love the covered patio. The bushes, however, drive me crazy. I understand why the previous owner put them there-when we moved in two and a half years ago, the fence was five feet and the neighbors across in the back had a higher elevation. So the bushes gave a fair amount of privacy on the patio. We've since had a tornado however, and replaced the five foot fence with an eight footer, giving us lots of privacy. My dog likes to dig and lie underneath the bush at the right. the left bush serves no real purpose, and truthfully, I hate the round shape. It looks especially bad from the yard further out. If i got rid of that, I could have pots on gravel, mulch, or just the ground right off the patio. But I can't bring myself to uproot a living thing, and am unsure of what I want to put in that area.
