Adding To My Quilt Inventory

Sigh. Life has gotten in the way the past couple of weeks.

My dog is ill. He's fifteen years old and has a tumor pressing down on is trachea and an enlarged heart. We don't know the prognosis because we don't know how long it took to get this size. But unfortunately he wheezes and coughs all day long and all nite long. He still eats and walks about and asks for attention. This is a good thing.

THEN, for the past couple of weeks I have been doing receptions at my church (I am head of the reception/entertainment committee), and doing a couple things around the house.

The good news is that I have also made time to do some sewing/quilting and am starting to build a small stash of items for the day I open my Etsy shop. This table topper will have matching coasters. The quilt is one I had made previously (I do know it needs to be pressed) and I have been thinking of quilting it and donating it for a silent auction that will be at church in June.

Ive also been reading, reading, reading...........books on crafts businesses and business plans, mindless drivel, quilt books, you name it. Hopefully soon I 'll have a post on where I am on my annual reading plan.

  1. I like your table topper. I've considered doing one from some squares my late DM did. Do you line it?

I am sorry about your dog ... assume there's not much that can be done for him?

  2. Yes, I line the topper with thin batting and quilt in the dish. This one is done in charm squares that are cut..nine patch charm squares then cut into four smaller squares. Nothing that can really be done for the puppy..before they would even think about removing the tumor (by cracking his chest) they would require various proceedures that included sticking needles in the poor guy which is cruel.............

  3. Ah .. thanks!
I understand about your dog. My older cat is 16, and I would hesitate about drastic treatments. Fortunately, we can mangage things with medicine right now.
